This piece was made in the Nagelhus Schia Residency in Oslo. 

The Core is an immersive art and video installation spanning across several rooms where the interaction between visual art and dance creates new synergies and interdisciplinary expressions, to the choreography of Guro Nagelhus Schia and Vebjørn Sundby, and new music by Bernt Isak Wærstad.

We find ourselves amongs strangers, confronted with a room pulsating with music where we have to make choices of which of the rooms in the space we want to experience. The Core invites us to wander through the interval between the living and the non-living, shadow and light, past and present, immobility and action, intensity and illusion.

The performative dimension of Fredrik Tjærandsen's work runs throughout the exhibition, the works of art, the sound pieces, the clothes and the bodies within it and enters into symbiosis with the space itself. Central to Tjærandsen's artistic practice is that the human body is a tool, canvas and concept.
